For most of us, it’s a dream to get married on a Caribbean island, but for Kellie Pickler, of American Idol fame, the dream came true. On January 1st, Kellie and her sweetheart Kyle Jacobs eloped and tied the knot during a private ceremony. What better way to start a new year than with a new marriage?

Kellie told the press that Kyle had proposed to her during the summer – on her grandmother’s birthday, to be exact. Visibly moved that her fiancé would be so considerate, Kellie said she felt like she had her grandmother’s blessing. In an interview with People Magazine, she said, “It was the most spiritual moment. We would’ve gotten married that night had there been a preacher walking by!”

The couple announced their marriage on Twitter. Kelly tweeted she was now “Officially Mrs. Jacobs,” and “happily married to my best friend.” Kyle showed his dry sense of humor by tweeting, ‘It’s official… I’m Mr. Pickler…”

Kellie Pickler is a former American Idol contestant who was eliminated in Season 5. Kyle Jacobs is a singer and songwriter. The couple met when Kelly was given one of Kyle’s compositions to record. They quickly fell in love and are now looking forward to a long and happy life together.

Closer to home, Valerie Bertinelli married Tom Vitale during an idyllic beach side ceremony at her Malibu home. The bride wore a custom-made, blue chiffon gown by David Meister, and Jimmy Choo heels, while the groom chose a traditional black tux. Among the guests at the wedding were Eddie Van Halen, MacKenzie Philips, and Pat “Schneider” Harrington.

The two had been dating for a long time before they decided to make it official, and an elated Valerie told the press she was ecstatic to finally call Tom her husband.
